I cannot retrieve test records when my Zap is on
When your Zap with a Telegram New Message trigger is on, you may not be able to pull in new sample data or test records in the Zap editor, even though your bot is connected and set up for outgoing webhooks.
Cause
When the Zap is on, the webhook is registered with Telegram and messages are sent to that webhook. In this state, the Zap editor cannot fetch test records the usual way.
How to fix it
- Use a previous Zap run as your test record. If the Zap is on and receiving messages, Zap history has the data from real runs. Use a run from history to map fields or test later steps.
- If you need newer test records in the Zap editor:
- Turn the Zap off (this deregisters the webhook so the editor can request test records).
- In Telegram, send a new message to your bot.
- In Zapier, click the Telegram trigger step, then the Test tab.
- Click Find new records.
- After new records appear, turn the Zap on again.
Only one of my Zaps receives Telegram messages
You have more than one Zap using the same Telegram bot with a New Message trigger, but only one Zap receives the messages.
Cause
Each Telegram bot has a single webhook URL. When you connect the same bot to another Zap or register a new webhook, Telegram replaces the previous URL. Only one Zap can receive events from that bot at a time.
How to fix it
- Create a separate bot for each Zap that must receive Telegram messages.
- Use BotFather to create a new bot and get its token.
- Connect the new bot to Zapier for that Zap. Each bot can only be connected to one Zap with a New Message trigger at a time.
