When building or editing your Zap, you can select a previous Zap run to use as your trigger test record. This is useful when:
- Your trigger app returns generic sample data instead of real data from your account.
- You need to test with specific data that appeared in a past Zap run but is not available when you test the trigger.
- A field you need is only available in live Zap runs, not in trigger test results.
Use a Zap run as a test record
Your Zap must have run at least once before you can use a Zap run as a test record.
In your Zap:
- In the upper right, click Edit Zap (or Edit draft if a previous draft exists) to enter edit mode.
- In the left sidebar, click the Zap runs icon
. The sidebar will expand to display your latest Zap runs. - Next to the Zap run you want to use as your trigger test record, click the settings icon
. A dropdown menu will open. - Select Use as test record.
- In your trigger step, the Zap run will appear as a test record with the title "Record from Zap Run".

Manage Zap run test records
You can rename or delete the Zap run test record:
- In your trigger step, select the Test tab.
- Next to the Zap run test record, click the settings icon
. A dropdown menu will open. - Select:
- Rename to change the name of the test record.
- Delete to remove the test record.
Limitations
- You cannot modify test records that you selected from a previous Zap run. If you need to edit values, create a modified test record from your trigger step instead.
- Your Zap must have run at least once before you can use a Zap run as a test record.
