Use a previous Zap run as a test record

When building or editing your Zap, you can select a previous Zap run to use as your trigger test record. This is useful when:

  • Your trigger app returns generic sample data instead of real data from your account.
  • You need to test with specific data that appeared in a past Zap run but is not available when you test the trigger.
  • A field you need is only available in live Zap runs, not in trigger test results.

Use a Zap run as a test record

Your Zap must have run at least once before you can use a Zap run as a test record.

In your Zap:

  1. In the upper right, click Edit Zap (or Edit draft if a previous draft exists) to enter edit mode.
  2. In the left sidebar, click the Zap runs icon . The sidebar will expand to display your latest Zap runs.
  3. Next to the Zap run you want to use as your trigger test record, click the settings icon . A dropdown menu will open.
  4. Select Use as test record.
  5. In your trigger step, the Zap run will appear as a test record with the title "Record from Zap Run".
