Ensure that your business-critical Zaps continue to work even after you remove a user from your Team or Enterprise account. You can review their Zaps and connected apps, then decide if you want to transfer ownership of them to another user.
This feature is available to:
- Owners of Team accounts.
- Super admins and owners of Enterprise accounts.
Export a CSV of their Zaps and app connections
Before you remove a user, export a CSV of their Zaps and app connections to review. You can also save the CSV for your records.
- Go to the Members page.
- In the Search members input box, search for and select the user.
- Click the three dot icon next to the user.
- In the dropdown menu, click Download Zaps and app connections (CSV).
- A CSV will automatically download to your computer.

- ID: the unique ID of the connected app account or Zap.
- Name: the name of the connected app account or Zap.
- Link: a URL link to the connected app account or Zap page.
-

- “True” indicates it’s private.
- “False” indicates it’s shared.
- App: for a connected app account, the name of the app that’s connected.
Transfer ownership of their Zaps
By default, when you remove a user, ownership of their private and shared Zaps and app connections, as well as their shared folders will transfer to the account owner. If you want to transfer ownership to another user in the account:
Private Zaps
You must move private Zaps into a shared folder before transferring ownership.
Move private Zaps to a shared folder
- In the CSV, click the URL link in the Link field for the Zap you want to transfer ownership of. You will be redirected to the Zap Details page for the Zap.
- Click Move to folder.
- In the modal, search for and select the shared folder to move the Zap to.
- Click Move to folder.
Transfer ownership of a single Zap
- Go to the shared folder.
- Click the three dot icon next to the Zap.
- Click Change owner.
- In the modal, search for and select the user you want to transfer ownership to.
- Click Change owner.
Transfer ownership of multiple Zaps
- Go to the shared folder.
- Select the checkbox next to each Zap you want to change ownership of.
- At the top of your list of Zaps, next to the enabled checkbox, click the down arrow (or right click anywhere in the Zap) to open the dropdown menu.
- Select Change owner.
- Search for and select the user you want to transfer ownership to.
- Click Change owner.
Shared Zaps
If you want to transfer ownership to another user, you do not need to move shared Zaps to another shared folder first.
Change ownership using the CSV
- In the CSV, click the URL link in the Link field. You will be redirected to the Zap Details page for the Zap.
- In the left sidebar, click Change owner.
- In the modal, search for and select the user you want to transfer ownership to.
- Click Change owner.
Change ownership from the Zap folder
In the folder where the Zap is located:
- Click the three dot icon next to the Zap.
- Click Change owner.
- In the modal, search for and select the user you want to transfer ownership to.
- Click Change owner.
Update their connected app accounts
To ensure Zaps continue running, you should update the user's connected app accounts by connecting the app account of another member of your team.
- In the CSV, click the URL link in the Link field for the app account you want to update. You will be redirected to the app connection page.
- Click the three dot icon next to the app account you want to update.
- In the dropdown menu, select Reconnect.
- Replace the user's account by connecting your app account.
Shared app accounts will continue working as long as the user's app account is valid. Zapier recommends you update both private and shared app connections in any Zaps that you need to continue running.
Remove the user
Once you’ve reviewed all of the user's Zaps and connected app accounts:
- Go to your Members page.
- In the list of users, click the three dot icon next to the user. A dropdown menu will open.
- Select Remove member. A modal will appear.
- Click Remove member to confirm.
Account Admins can also remove users from the account.
What happens after you remove a user?
After you remove a user, the account owner will receive a confirmation email notifying them of the removed user. If a super admin removed the user, they will also receive a confirmation email.
Zapier will transfer their Zaps, folders, and app connections.
Zaps
- Ownership of all Zaps will transfer to the account owner.
- Shared Zaps will remain in the same folder.
- Private Zaps will move into a new private folder in the account owner’s account.
- The folder name will be {Removed X’s Zaps}, where X is the removed user’s name.
- Zaps will keep the on or off status that they had in the removed user’s account.
Folders
- Ownership of shared folders will transfer to the account owner.
- Any member who can access Zaps in that folder will be able to continue viewing the Zap history for those Zaps.
- Private folders will be emptied and abandoned.
App connections
- Ownership of all app connections will transfer to the account owner.
- Shared account connections will remain valid.
- Private account connections will expire.
- Zapier will notify members that they should change the connection to a shared one that belongs to the account.
- Zapier will rename their connection by prepending {Removed X}, where X is the removed user’s name.
Zapier will hold tasks in any Zap that uses those connections.
The webhook URL created in a Webhooks by Zapier Catch Hook or Catch Raw Hook trigger is tied to the Zap owner. When you remove a member from your account, the webhook URL in the Zap will change. You must update any external apps where you used the webhook URL before you can continue posting data to your Zap.
