If you have lost access to your Zapier account, the steps to recover access depend on your situation. Use the scenarios below to find the right path.
You cannot receive password reset emails
If the email address on your Zapier account is no longer accessible (for example, a former work email, deleted mailbox, or an email you no longer use), you will not be able to receive the password reset link.
If you're the owner of a Team or Enterprise account: Your organization's IT administrator may be able to restore access to that email address (for example, by reinstating the mailbox or setting up email forwarding). Once you can receive email at that address, reset your password, then change the email address to one you control.
If IT cannot restore access: See How do I access an account after a user leaves? for the escalation path to Support, including what verification documents to provide.
If you're on a Free or Professional plan: Recovery options are more limited. Contact Zapier Support with any billing information you have. Support may be able to verify your identity and assist, but recovery is not always possible for Free accounts without a payment method on file.
You lost your 2FA device or recovery codes
If you use two-factor authentication (2FA) and lose access to both your authentication device and your recovery codes, you will permanently lose access. Zapier cannot bypass 2FA or regenerate recovery codes.
If you still have your recovery codes: Use a recovery code to log in, then set up a new 2FA device or regenerate codes.
To avoid this in the future: Save your 10 recovery codes in a secure place separate from your authentication device when you set up 2FA.
You signed in with Google and lost access to that Google account
If you created your Zapier account using Google Sign-In and you no longer have access to that Google account, you need to set a password for your Zapier account before you can change the email or disconnect Google.
- Go to the password reset page and enter the email address associated with your Zapier account.
- If you can receive email at that address, click the link in the reset email and create a new password.
- Once you have a password, you can disconnect your Google account and change your email address.
If you cannot receive email at the address on file, follow the steps in You cannot receive password reset emails above.
The owner of your Team or Enterprise account has left
If the account owner has left your organization and you need to take over the account, you cannot complete a self-service ownership transfer without logging in as that owner. See How do I access an account after a user leaves? for options, including IT workarounds and contacting Support with verification documents.
How to avoid losing access in the future
- Save 2FA recovery codes: When you set up two-factor authentication, save your 10 recovery codes in a secure place separate from your phone or authenticator app.
- Update your email before you lose access: You can change your Zapier account email at any time, if you know you'll no longer have access to the connected email address.
