What is Zapier Copilot?

Zapier Copilot is an AI-powered assistant that works across all Zapier products to help you discover automation use cases, build, expand, and maintain your assets.

Beta

This feature is in open beta release. It’s available for use but is still in active development and may change.

What can Zapier Copilot do?

You can ask Zapier Copilot for help using plain language, such as “I want to add a new field to my table" or "Add a Zap step to send a Slack message," and Zapier Copilot will walk you through or complete the work on your behalf. Zapier Copilot works across all Zapier products, so it can support you throughout complete automation scenarios. Learn how to prompt AI in Zapier.

Example

You can enter prompts like:

  • In a Zap: “When a customer makes a payment in Quickbooks, find the customer's open deal in Hubspot, then mark it as closed.”
  • In Canvas: “Add a new step to send me a notification in Slack.”
  • In Functions: “Add a new trigger to my function using a New Spreadsheet Row trigger.”

Where is Zapier Copilot available?

Zapier Copilot usage

Plan task usage

While building and testing with Zapier Copilot, you will not use any of your plan's tasks or add-ons. Tasks and add-ons are only charged once you're using a Zapier product live. To ensure you use tasks and add-ons efficiently, thoroughly test your workflows before running them live to prevent things like unintentional Zap loops or unnecessary or incorrect steps.

Copilot message limits

If you’re on a Free Zapier plan, there is a daily limit to how many Copilot messages you can send. You will see a warning in Copilot when you approach 80% of your maximum usage. The limit resets daily at 12:00 AM UTC. This limit only applies when you use Copilot to build within a Zapier product, like in Zaps. There are no limits when you use Zapier Support’s Copilot on the Zapier Get help page.

To use Copilot efficiently, you can:

  • Use shorter inputs in the chat.
  • Switch to Ask mode to selectively ask Copilot to run tasks for you.
  • Run tests manually instead of asking Copilot to do everything for you.
  • Clear the chat more frequently to reduce Copilot’s context window.
  • Use a pro trial or upgrade your account.
