Verify ownership of your domain in Zapier

Verifying your domain is a way to prove to Zapier that you own your domain name. After you verify ownership of a domain for your Zapier account, no other account can use it to sign into Zapier. This allows you to enable additional security features such as:

Pre-requirements

To verify a domain, you must be an Admin, Super Admin, or account Owner. Learn more about user roles in your Enterprise or Team account.

Verify domain ownership

  • In the left sidebar of your Settings page, under the Admin settings section, select Security and privacy.
  • Under the Security section, select Domain management.
  • In the Domains section, click + Add domain
  • In the Add domain section, enter your domain name in the Domain name field, then click Save.
  • In the Select verification method section, select one option to verify the domain:
    • DNS text record: add a DNS record to your domain host.
    • Meta tag on website: add a meta tag to your domain's website.
    • HTML file: add an HTML file to your web server.
  • After you select a verification method, instructions specific to your verification method will appear in the next section. Follow the instructions to finish setting up your domain.
  • Once you complete all verification instructions, click Verify domain. You can only try to verify the same domain once every 24 hours.

You can repeat these steps for any additional domains your organization owns.

Delete unverified domains

If you have unverified domains you want to remove:

  • In the left sidebar of your Settings page, under the Admin settings section, select Security and privacy.
  • Under the Security section, click Domain management.
  • Select the unverified domain.
  • Click Delete and confirm in the dialog box.

Check domain verification status

You can check the status of your domain verification in your security settings.

  • Verified domains are marked with a green checkmark icon and a Verified tag.
  • Unverified domains are marked with a yellow alert icon and Needs verification tag.

Once a domain is verified, you’ll see a list of members for that domain, as well as information about each member’s Zapier account:

  • Whether their email address is confirmed.
  • Whether they are an existing member in your Enterprise account and if they have a separate account on Zapier.
  • Whether multi-factor authentication (MFA) is enabled.
  • The number of tasks used in their other Zapier account.
  • When they created their other Zapier account.

Limitations

  • You can only verify a domain in a single Zapier account.
    • If you see the error message "Verification request already submitted for this domain”, the domain has been verified in another Zapier account. You will not be able to verify it in your domain.
  • You can verify up to 150 domains. This is a security limit to prevent abuse.
  • DNS servers may cache entries, so any changes you make may take time to appear. If you check too soon, you may see a false negative.
  • Depending on the verification method you select, the change may not be reflected for up to 72 hours.
  • Domains cannot be de-verified at this time. If you need more help with your domains, contact support.
  • Zapier does not re-verify domains after your initially verify them.
  • You can try to verify your domain once per day. If an attempt fails, you can try again in 24 hours.
