Zapier Agents is an AI tool that lets you create agents to automate your tasks using the power of Zapier's thousands of apps. To get started, visit agents.zapier.com and sign up.
This product is in open beta. It’s available for use but still in active development and may change.
What is an agent?
Agents are AI-powered assistants that do work on your behalf. They can perform actions independently or when you interact with them. They can also help you fix any issues with their tasks, and answer questions related to connected data integrations.
Create a new agent
To create a new agent:
- Visit agents.zapier.com.
- If this is your first time using Zapier Agents, click Create my first agent.
- If you already have agents, hover over the plus icon on the left sidebar to see and click the + New agent button.
- A dialog box will open. You can start from scratch or with a template.
Start from scratch
When you create an agent, all fields are optional.
- In the Name field, enter a name for your agent.
- Click Start from scratch. Your new agent is ready to chat with.
Click Configure at the top of the Chat screen to add a description or create a behavior for your agent.
Start with a template
When you create an agent using a template, its name and description are already set. Depending on the template you choose, it'll have data integrations and behaviors created for you.
- Select a template from the list in the dialog box.
- If the template requires data integrations, click Configure to set them up.

Click Use this template.
- If the template requires app connections, the agent will ask you to set these up before finishing the process.
Once the agent is ready, it will open the Behavior settings screen, where you can change the instructions and actions.
Interacting with your agent
To interact with your agent, use the chat field at the bottom of the screen. You can ask questions, tell it to take action, or request information from one of its data integrations, and your agent will reply in the chat window. You can also ask your agent to explain what it can do and ask for help at any time.
Use the
New chat button to start a new conversation with the agent. Any tools already set up are available in all chats.Upload images for analysis
Agents can analyze the content of images that you upload using the chat field. You can either drag and drop images or copy and paste them directly into the field. After that, you can ask the agent to interpret the images or use the content to answer your questions. You can upload up to 5 images of 10MB each.
Add behaviors, actions, and data integrations
You can add more behaviors, actions, and data integrations to your agent at any time using the Tools menu above the Chat field.
Delete an agent
To delete an agent:
- From the Chat screen, hover over the agent's name on the left sidebar and click the delete icon.
- In the dialog box, click Delete agent.
Agent deletion is permanent. You cannot recover a deleted agent.
Usage and plans
Agents use activities when they run. If you run out of activities, you can upgrade to a paid Zapier Agents plans. Learn more about Zapier Agents plans.
