Update to the latest app version in Zaps

Zapier will attempt to automatically update your Zaps to the latest version when an app is updated. When Zapier can't update your Zaps, existing steps can continue to use the app's previous versions, but it will no longer be supported or available for new steps. The app version may also get deprecated. Once the deprecation date has been reached, Zaps that still use the version will be paused.

Depending on the app version update, there are two ways in the Zap editor to
update your Zaps:

  • Assisted update.
  • Unassisted update.

Assisted update

If a new app version is available, you’ll see a callout box in the Zap editor asking you to update. If you use private apps and have been granted access to multiple app versions, you can switch between them.

To update your Zap to the latest app version in the Zap editor:
  1. In the top right, click Edit Zap.
  2. Select the step that needs to be updated.
  3. In the App & event section, click arrowBigUp icon Update.
    • If the app is deprecated, the arrowBigUp icon Update button will include the app's name.
  4. Click arrowBigUp icon Confirm update.
  5. Click the Event field to open the dropdown menu.
    • If the trigger or action exists in the new app version, it will be pre-selected.
    • If the trigger or action does not exist in the new app version, you must select an alternative trigger or action.
  6. Click Continue.
  7. In the Account section, select an existing account connection or connect an app account.
  8. Click Continue.
  9. In the Trigger or Action section, verify that your fields are setup as expected.
  10. In the Test section, re-test your trigger or action step.
  11. Click Publish to finalize your changes and turn your Zap on.

Unassisted update

If you see no prompt to upgrade your Zaps in the Zap editor, you’ll need to manually update your Zap to use the latest app version.

To update your Zap to the latest app version, in the Zap editor:
 
In the Zap editor:
  1. In the top right, click Edit Zap.
  2. Select the step that needs to be updated.
  3. In the App & event section, click Change next to the selected app.
  4. Search for and select the latest version of the app from the dialog box. It will have a “Latest” label, or no label.
  5. Click the Event field to open the dropdown menu, then select an event.
  6. Click Continue.
  7. In the Account section, select an existing account connection or connect an app account.
  8. Click Continue.
  9. In the Trigger or Action section, verify that your fields are setup as expected.
  10. In the Test section, re-test your trigger or action step.
  11. Click Publish to finalize your changes and turn your Zap on.
