How to get started with ServiceNow on Zapier

Connect to ServiceNow on Zapier

ServiceNow uses either OAuth or basic authentication to authenticate your account on Zapier.

OAuth Basic authentication

Required authentication fields

  • Provide ServiceNow Subdomain 

Optional authentication fields

  • Client ID (OAuth)
  • Client Secret (OAuth)

Additional authentication instructions

Before connecting to Zapier, your system administrator must create an application registry for Zapier. You will be asked to provide:

  • To connect by OAuth, your systems administrator should set up the right configuration within your instance to connect any user using an OAuth connection.

  • To prevent excessive inbound REST API requests, set rules that limit the number of inbound REST API requests processed per hour. 
  • You can create rules to limit requests for specific users, users with specific roles, or all users. 
  • Note: As requests reach an instance, each node maintains a rate limit count per user. Every 30 seconds, the count is committed to the database. As a result, a rate limit rule may not take effect for up to 30 seconds.
