How to get started with Facebook Pages

Facebook Pages and Zapier connect to automate your social media. You can trigger actions when new posts or comments appear and create posts or photos.

Prerequisites

To use the Facebook Pages app on Zapier, you must have:

  • Facebook access with full control permissions to the Facebook Page you want to connect to.
  • Grant Zapier view and edit access to the pages you intend to you in your Facebook Business Integration settings:
    • To ensure Zapier can perform all necessary actions, you must keep all of the default toggles set to "ON" for the page(s) you intend to use. If you edit or disable any of these permissions it can break your workflows and disconnect your account.
    • In Additional Business Integration Settings section, the "Who can see you use this business integration?" field must be set to "Public".

  • Some Facebook accounts may require for Identity confirmation to be completed in your Facebook settings to authorize posting permissions. 

Connect Facebook Pages to Zapier

To create an app connection to Facebook Pages on Zapier:

  • Go to the Apps page.
  • Click + Add connection.
  • A new dialog box will appear. Search for and select Facebook Pages.
  • Click Add connection.
  • A new browser tab or window will open.
  • Log into Facebook Pages to authenticate.
  • Grant Zapier permission to access your account if prompted to.

Your Facebook Pages account is now successfully connected to Zapier.

Triggers
  • New Comment (Instant) - Triggers when a new comment is created.
  • New Post to Your Timeline (Polling) - Triggers when anyone (including you) posts to your Page's Timeline.
  • New Recommendation (Polling) - Triggers when your Facebook Page receives a new recommendation.
  • New Page Mention / Tag (Polling) - Triggers when your page is mentioned or tagged in a post.
  • New Post by You (Polling) - Triggers when you post to your Page's Timeline.
Searches
  • No search actions were found for Facebook Pages.
Actions
  • Create Page Photo - Uploads a photo to your Facebook Page and posts it to the stream.
  • Create Page Post - Create a new page "stream" post on a page.
  • Change Page Profile Photo - Changes the profile picture of a Facebook Page.
  • Page Post Insights - Generates page post insights. You can include multiple metrics.
  • Create Page Video - Uploads a video to your Facebook Page and posts it to the stream.

Limitations

  • If you're a Facebook Page Admin for more than 150 Facebook Pages, you may not find all Facebook Pages from the dropdown menu and need to insert the Facebook Page ID as a custom value - source
  • Media upload restrictions: 
    • Video files are limited to 1.4GB.
    • Image sizes must meet minimum requirements (200 x 200 pixels minimum, with recommended sizes of 600 x 315 pixels)
    • Use Facebook's Crawler tool to preview how content shared from URLs appears.
