Action required: Update your Zendesk Zaps before the API token deprecation

Zendesk is removing API token authentication for their Ticketing, Help Center, and Voice APIs. If you use Zendesk with Zapier on an older integration version (v1.x.x), you must update your Zaps to use the latest version with OAuth 2.0 before April 30, 2027, to avoid disruption.

Check if you are affected

1. Log into Zapier and go to My Apps.
2. In the search box, enter Zendesk and select it to review your Zendesk connections.
3. Check whether your Zendesk connection shows a version number (such as 1.x.x) with a "Legacy" or "Deprecated" tag. If it does, Zaps using that connection must be updated.
4. Select any of your Zendesk Zaps to review which ones use the older version.

If your Zendesk connection shows no version tag, you are likely already on the latest OAuth-based version and no action is required.

Update your Zaps

If one of your Zaps is still using the older version, for each affected Zap, in the Zap editor:

1. Click the affected Zendesk step.
2. In the Setup tab, click Change to update to the newest Zendesk integration version.
3. In the Account dropdown menu, select an existing Zendesk connection that uses the new version, or select + Connect a new account to add one. If you add a new connection, Zapier redirects you to Zendesk to authorize it.
4. In the Setup tab, review and reconfigure the step's fields. Available fields or output mappings may have changed between versions.
5. Remap your fields in all downstream steps (later Zap steps that use this step's output).
6. Click Test step to pull in the latest data.
7. Click Publish to save your changes and turn your Zap back on.

Repeat this process for each Zap that uses the older Zendesk version.

Why this is happening

Zendesk is modernizing its authentication to improve security and align with current API best practices. OAuth 2.0 provides more granular permission controls and is more secure than long-lived API tokens.
