Zapier Agents: agent is not running

If your agent is not running when expected, it may not be published, the trigger may not be configured correctly, or you may have reached your activity limit.

Symptom

  • Your agent does not run when you expect it to.
  • No new runs appear in the Activity tab.
  • The Run button is greyed out and cannot be clicked.

Causes

  • Your agent has not been published yet.
  • Your agent is currently running (a run is in progress).
  • You have reached your activity limit.
  • Your trigger is not configured correctly.
  • No trigger events have occurred since the agent was published.

How to fix it

Check if your agent is published:

  1. From your agent's page, look for the status indicator.
  2. If it shows "Not published," click Publish to activate it.

Check the Activity tab:

  1. From your agent's page, click Activity at the top.
  2. By default, Activity shows runs from the past two days. To see older runs, click the date filter and select a wider range.
  3. Look for runs with a Completed status to confirm your agent has been running.

Run your agent manually:

  1. Click the Run button in the upper-right corner of your agent's page.
  2. The agent will execute using your current configuration.
  3. Check the Activity tab to see the run result.

If the Run button is greyed out:

  • Check if your agent shows "Not published" in the status. If so, click Publish to activate it.
  • If a run is in progress, wait for it to complete. Check the Activity tab for the current status.
  • If you have reached your activity limit, upgrade your plan or wait until your billing cycle resets.
