Zapier Chatbots quick start guide


Zapier Chatbots is a beta product. It’s available for use, but still in active development and may change.

Zapier Chatbots let you embed a custom-branded chat experience directly within your website. Check out some common use cases:

  • Scale Support: Provide prospects or customers with immediate and customized answers to frequently asked questions about a product or your business.
  • Generate pre-qualified leads: Gather information from users and provide them with personalized recommendations for additional resources or product packages that fit their needs
  • Increase team productivity: Allow other departments in your business to self-serve the information they need, generate content, and access training.


Create your first chatbot

Sign up for Zapier

Visit to get started. You'll be prompted to log in to your Zapier account or sign up for a free Zapier account. 


Add a new chatbot 

Creating a new chatbot from your dashboard is quick and easy. On the Free Chatbots plan, you can have up to 2 chatbots on your account. This allows you to build separate ones for different teams, sites, or products. For more chatbots, sign up for a paid Zapier Chatbots plan.


Assign it an objective and personality 

Name your chatbot, add a custom greeting, and tailor the directive. This allows you to give the chatbot an objective and instruct it on engaging with users to match your business needs.


Connect additional knowledge

Zapier Chatbots can use a data source, a file of additional knowledge that tailors the responses for your business or project.


Customize and share your chatbot

Personalize the look and feel to match your brand, then share it as a public link. You can also add it within Zapier Interfaces, or seamlessly add it to your website with a simple embedding code.


Next steps

You can further personalize your chatbot by changing which AI model it uses (GPT-4, for example), using URL parameters, and much more.
