Trigger Zaps from new RSS feed items

An RSS (which stands for really simple syndication) feed is a way to get simple, stripped-down content from a source on the internet. You often find them on blogs and news sites.

As an example, you can take a look at the Zapier blog RSS to see how it looks in your browser.

If you’re building a Zap that you’d like to trigger off of an RSS feed, there are a few steps you’ll need to follow to get that RSS feed up and running with Zapier.

1. Choose RSS by Zapier as the Trigger app

You’ll want to choose RSS by Zapier first as your Trigger app. Once you’ve done that, you’ll have the option to choose whether you want this Zap to be triggered when there is a new item in one or multiple RSS feeds.

2. Enter your RSS feed’s publicly-accessible URL

Copy and paste the URL of the RSS feed in the “Feed URL” field. If it is publicly-accessible, that is all you need to do!

If your RSS feed is private, enter the username and password needed to access it.

3. (Advanced) Select what triggers this Zap

We recommend sticking with the default option (“Different Guid/URL”), but if you’re an advanced user, you can select from three different options to trigger this Zap:

Different Guid/URL (recommended) - Everytime a new URL is added to the feed.
Different Content - Every time something that isn’t a URL is added to the feed.
Anything is Different - Every time a URL or anything else is added to the feed.

Once you’ve set your RSS feed up, you’re ready to continue setting up the rest of your Zap.
