You can use spreadsheet-style formulas in Zaps with the same syntax used in popular spreadsheet applications like Excel, Numbers, and Google Sheets.
This option can be used with numbers or with text.
1. Add a Formatter step
- In the Zap editor, click the Action step, or click the plus + icon to add an action to your Zap.
- Select Format.
- Click the Event dropdown menu and select Numbers or Text, depending on the information you'd like to use.
- Click Continue.
- In the Set up action section, click the Transform dropdown menu and select Spreadsheet-Style Formula.
2. Set your formula
The Spreadsheet-Style Formula transform supports many different functions. You can use data from previous steps in your formula.
- In the Values section, click the Formula field and enter your formula.
- Click Continue..
If the data you'd like to use in the formula includes letters (not just numbers), you must wrap the text in double quotation marks or the Formatter will error.
3. Test your formula
- Click Test & Review. You’ll see the results of your formula.
If you’re using spreadsheet-style formulas to compare values, the output will be “true” or “false”. If the compared values are equal, the output is “true”. If the compared values are not equal, the output is “false”.
After setting up a spreadsheet-style formula, you can use the results of your formula in further actions in your Zap.
