How to set up Google Ads' Send Offline Conversion action

This tutorial will explain how to set up your Google Ads Send Offline Conversion action.

Prerequisites

1. Setup a Send Offline Conversion action step

  • In the Zap editor, click the Action step or the plus + icon to add an action to your Zap.
  • Search for and select Google Ads.
  • Click the Event dropdown menu and select your Send Offline Conversion.
  • Click Continue.
  • Click the Use Google Ads as... dropdown menu and select the Google Ads Manager Account you want to import your conversion events intoIf you haven't linked your Google Ads account, follow these instructions.
  • (Optional)
    • Leave the Managed Account dropdown menu blank to send all requests to the Google Ads Manager Account above.
    • To send all requests to an alternative Google Ads Manager Account, click Managed Account dropdown menu and select a Google Ads Manager Account
  • Select the Conversion User Identifier Source from the dropdown menu. You can choose either the Google Click ID (GCLID), Email address, or Phone number. Note that Email address or Phone Number can only be selected if you've opted in for enhanced conversions.
  • In the Google Click ID (GCLID) field, add a GCLID.
  • Select the Conversion Action from the dropdown menu.
  • In the Timestamp field, add the time the conversion occurred. If your previous step does not include a date, you can input {{zap_meta_human_now}} into the field to automatically insert the time your Zap runs as the timestamp.
  • (Optional) In the Value field, add the value in decimal format.
  • (Optional) In the Currency field, add the currency in ISO 4217 currency code format.
  • Click Continue.

  • Add a filter before your Send Offline Conversion action step to ensure the addition of only conversions from Google Ads. Set a condition to continue if a GCLID exists because creating an offline conversion requires a GCLID.
  • If the conversion event you're tracking can happen within 24 hours from when someone clicks the ad, add a Delay For action step. This step should precede your Send Offline Conversion action step.

2. Test a Send Offline Conversion action step

  • Click Test action.
  • Next, you can review your test. When the test completes, you will see one of two things:
    • Success when your sample data had a GCLID: A green banner and a notification that a test event was sent.
    • Success when your sample data did not have a GCLID: A red banner saying, the GCLID is missing. This is because the sample record didn't contain a GCLID. However, we would still consider this a success since we shouldn’t upload conversions without a GCLID.

Once you’ve set up your Send Offline Conversion action, you can either:
    • Add another action step.
    • Turn your Zap on by clicking Publish Zap.
