How to get started with Salesforce on Zapier

Connect to Salesforce on Zapier

Salesforce uses OAuth to authenticate your account on Zapier.

  • Salesforce Environment. 
  • Log into Salesforce to authenticate.
  • Grant Zapier permission to access your account if prompted to.

  • If you select sandbox and your account does not support a sandbox environment, you'll receive the following message "Please check your username and password. If you still can't log in, contact your Salesforce administrator."
  • If you receive the error "This connection to Salesforce appears to no longer be working", you've exceeded the connection app access limit in Salesforce

Are self-hosted or cloud-hosted accounts supported? Cloud-hosted accounts only

The Zapier Salesforce integration supports accounts with My Domain, not using Custom Domains. Learn more about Salesforce’s supported accounts.

Is a paid Salesforce plan required? Yes

The Zapier Salesforce integration supports Sales/Service Accounts and any edition (including Essentials). Unfortunately, we don’t support Marketing Cloud accounts.

Are any special account permissions required? Yes

Are there usage limits? Yes

API request limits and allocations differ depending on what Salesforce license type you're on.

Are there pagination limits? No  
Do trigger samples use real data from your account or generic data? Real trigger samples
  • If no live data is present in your Salesforce account, test data will be supplied.
  • The Updated field on Record trigger will return the most recently updated record.  Samples won't filter based on your selected Salesforce Object in your trigger settings.
Are custom fields supported? Yes
Sometimes there may be a delay for objects or fields in Salesforce appearing in the Zap editor in dropdown menu fields.
  • To fix this for triggers:
    • In the Salesforce Object dropdown menu and click Load More.
  • To fix this for actions:
    • Hard refreshing the page (Shift+F5 on a PC or CMD+Shift+R on a Mac) a couple of times.
    • In the Salesforce dropdown menu, click Load More.
Do update actions overwrite or append to existing data? Overwrite existing data  
Is there any additional info? Yes

If you are using the Update Record or Update Record (UTC) actions in your Zaps, you can set a field to null by entering {{zap_clear_value}}into the relevant field.
