How to get started with Google Tasks on Zapier

Google Tasks and Zapier connect to automate your work. You can trigger actions when new tasks are added or completed and create new tasks or task lists.

Prerequisites

To use the Google Tasks app on Zapier, you must have:

  • A Google account (free personal Google account or Google Workspace account).
  • Tasks must be added to specific Google Tasks lists (tasks added from Google Docs or Google Chat will not trigger workflows).

Connect Google Tasks to Zapier

To create an app connection to Google Tasks on Zapier:

  • Go to the Apps page.
  • Click + Add connection.
  • A new dialog box will appear. Search for and select Google Tasks.
  • Click Add connection.
  • A new browser tab or window will open.
  • Log into Google Tasks to authenticate.
  • Grant Zapier permission to access your account if prompted to.

Your Google Tasks account is now successfully connected to Zapier.

Triggers
  • New Completed Task - Triggers when a task is completed in a specific task list. (Polling)
  • New Task List - Triggers when a new task list is created. (Polling)

  • Get Tasks by List - List all tasks by task list, results will be in a line-item format.
  • Find Task - Searches for an incomplete task.
  • Find or Create Task - Find or Create Task.
Actions
  • Create Task - Creates a new task.
  • API Request (Beta) - This is an advanced action which makes a raw HTTP request that includes this integration's authentication.
  • Create Task List - Creates a new task list.
  • Update Task - Update an existing task.

Limitations

  • API rate limits apply. Google Tasks API has a courtesy limit of 50,000 queries per day, which may affect high-volume Zapier workflows.
  • Google Tasks on Zapier does not provide a trigger for tasks coming due or reaching their due date, limiting automation possibilities for time-sensitive workflows.
