How to get started with Wave on Zapier

Wave and Zapier connect to automate accounting tasks. You can trigger actions when new customers or invoices are added and create customers, invoices, or sales records.

Prerequisites

To use the Wave app on Zapier, you must have:

  • An active Wave account with a Pro Plan subscription or Wave Advisors bookkeeping subscription. As of May 26, 2025, all businesses in Wave require one of these paid subscriptions to connect with Zapier. 

Connect Wave to Zapier

To create an app connection to Wave on Zapier:

  • Go to the Apps page.
  • Click + Add connection.
  • A new dialog box will appear. Search for and select Wave.
  • Click Add connection.
  • A new browser tab or window will open.
  • Log into Wave to authenticate.
  • Grant Zapier permission to access your account if prompted to.

Your Wave account is now successfully connected to Zapier.

  • New Customer - Triggers when a new customer is added to a business you choose (Polling)
  • New Invoice - Triggers when a new invoice is created (Polling)

  • Find Customer - Finds an existing customer

  • Find Sold Product or Service - Finds an existing product or service by name
Actions
  • Create Customer - Creates a customer in a business that you choose
  • Create Product or Service - Creates a product or service in a business that you choose
  • Create Invoice - Creates a new invoice
  • Record Sale - Records an Income transaction with optional Sales Tax and optional Payment Processing Fee

Limitations

  • Some invoice operations like sending invoices require the business to have email sending features enabled (Business.emailSendEnabled must be true).
