Common Problems with the Zapier Email Parser

My emails were parsed incorrectly.

This can happen from time to time - the email parser is just an algorithm that doesn't possess the sorts of pattern matching that our human brains can do on a daily basis. We are always working on better engines that more cleanly parse emails.

The best thing to do is report past emails on your Parser Dashboard as either "accurate" or "inaccurate" by visiting your mailbox history. This will help us improve our parsing algorithm.

You can also define a few extra templates to give us some extra information to parse with. Visit your mailbox history (by clicking the "Last Email" date on your Parser Dashboard).

Then click the Edit extra template and tag that email! Every extra template you tag gives us more data to work off of!

Don't forget to report inaccurate emails! You can do that by clicking the Report inaccuracy link on the mailbox history page. This helps us improve the parser engine!

Another good idea is to try a few different engines—if you visit your mailbox edit page you can swap between available engines. Give each a try for a little while and see if they do better, or worse!

Some more tips:

  • Try to keep each parsed item on a separate line where possible.
  • If you can't, use a non-space delimiter, like the "|" character, to help the email parser find the field boundary.
  • Try to keep each parsed data roughly the same (e.g if you have parsed 1 word and it comes in as two words it might break).
  • If the email has been forwarded that can cause trouble - extra threads below, extra signatures, indented content etc. Try to copy and paste the content into a new email instead or set up auto-forwarding.

If you're still having trouble, you may want to try using a more robust solution like https://mailparser.io/ or https://parseur.com/, both have great Zapier integrations.

I need to verify my Parser address to set up auto-forwarding, how can I get to the verification email?

You can see the most recent email to reach the Parser email address from your Mailboxes page. Just click on the link under "Last Email" for the appropriate mailbox.

I Can't Log in to My Zapier Email Parser Account

Zapier's Email Parser App is totally separate from the main Zapier page and requires a separate login to use. Make sure you're using the login details registered when you first set up your Zapier Email Parser account.

Also, the Email Parser Account login is case sensitive. So make sure to match the appropriate case when you first signed up.

What Timezone does Email Parser by Zapier use?
