Web Search by Zapier lets you search Google and return up to 20 results, each with a title, URL, and snippet. You can use it as an action in a Zap, a tool for an Agent, or through Zapier MCP.
Web Search by Zapier is a beta feature. It's available for use, but still in active development and may change.
Add a Web Search action
- Search for and select Web Search by Zapier.
- Select the Search the Web event.
Set up your Web Search action
- In the Search Query field, enter or map what you'd like to search for. For example,
best project management tools 2026. - In the Number of Results field, choose how many results to return (1–20). The default is 10.
You can map data from a previous step into the Search Query field to create dynamic searches. For example, map a company name from a CRM trigger to automatically search for information about new leads.
Output
If the search is successful, Web Search returns an array of results. Each result includes:
- Title: the page title
- URL: the page link
- Snippet: a short preview of the page content
- Position: the result's rank in the search results (1, 2, 3, etc.)
Because Web Search returns multiple results, you can use a Looping by Zapier step to process each result individually. For example, loop through results and use Web Reader by Zapier to read the full content of each page.
Limitations
- Web Search queries Google. Results depend on Google's index and ranking.
- Some search results may point to pages that block scraping through
robots.txt. - Web Search returns publicly available results. It cannot access content behind logins or paywalls.
- Each search counts as one task in your Zapier plan.
