SendGrid and Zapier connect to automate email workflows. You can trigger emails from form submissions and send transactional emails automatically.
Prerequisites
To use the SendGrid app on Zapier, you must have:
- A SendGrid account.
- A SendGrid API key with appropriate permissions.
- Sender identity verification through either Domain Authentication (recommended for production) or Single Sender Verification (for testing).
- For Domain Authentication: Access to edit DNS records on the domain you want to authenticate
- Two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled on your SendGrid account (required by SendGrid for security).
Connect SendGrid to Zapier
To create an app connection to SendGrid on Zapier:
- Go to the Apps page.
- Click + Add connection.
- A new dialog box will appear. Search for and select SendGrid.
- Click Add connection.
- A Connect an Account page will open in a browser tab or window.
- Complete the following fields:
- API Key: Enter your SendGrid API Key.
- Click Yes, Continue to SendGrid.
Your SendGrid account is now successfully connected to Zapier.

- Find List by Name - This action searches for a specific list in SendGrid using the list name as an input and outputs the information of the list that matches the input name.
- API Request (Beta) - This is an advanced action which makes a raw HTTP request that includes this integration's authentication.
- Create or Update Contact - This action allows you to add or update a Contact in SendGrid. You can use this action to add the contact to the list.
Limitations
- Rate limits apply to API endpoints, with 429 "Too Many Requests" errors returned when limits are exceeded.
- Account credit limits may prevent sending if exceeded (401 "Maximum credits exceeded" error).
