Customer.io and Zapier connect to automate customer data. You can create or update people from form responses and track events from app activities.
Prerequisites
To use the Customer.io app on Zapier, you must have:
- An active Customer.io account with at least the Essentials plan.
- Access to your Customer.io workspace with Account Admin or Member permissions that include "Manage API credentials" permission.
- Customer.io Track API credentials (Site ID and API Key) from your workspace settings under Account Settings API Credentials.
Connect Customer.io to Zapier
To create an app connection to Customer.io on Zapier:
- Go to the Apps page.
- Click + Add connection.
- A new dialog box will appear. Search for and select Customer.io.
- Click Add connection.
- A Connect an Account page will open in a browser tab or window.
- Complete the following fields:
- Site ID: Enter your Site ID from your Customer.io Track API credentials.
- Tracking API Key: Enter your API Key from your Customer.io Track API credentials.
- Click Yes, Continue to Customer.io.
Your Customer.io account is now successfully connected to Zapier.

- Create or Update a Person - Creates a new person. If the person already exists, it will be updated.
- Create Event - Creates an event.

Limitations
- People must have unique IDs as each person in Customer.io is identified by a unique ID attribute, and IDs cannot be changed later.
- Track API has a rate limit of 3000 requests per 3 seconds for both active data integrations and historical backfill scripts.
