How to get started with Attentive on Zapier

Attentive and Zapier connect to automate SMS and email marketing. You can trigger workflows when users subscribe or set custom attributes and create subscribers or track events.

Prerequisites

To use the Attentive app on Zapier, you must have:

  • An active Attentive account.

Connect Attentive to Zapier

To create an app connection to Attentive on Zapier:

  • Go to the Apps page.
  • Click + Add connection.
  • A new dialog box will appear. Search for and select Attentive.
  • Click Add connection.
  • A new browser tab or window will open.
  • Log into Attentive to authenticate.
  • Grant Zapier permission to access your account if prompted to.

Your Attentive account is now successfully connected to Zapier.

Triggers
  • Custom Attribute Set (Instant) - This event occurs when a custom attribute is set.
  • Email Opened (Instant) - This event occurs when an email message is opened.
  • Email Subscribed (Instant) - This event occurs when a user opts in to an email subscription.
  • SMS Message Link Clicked (Instant) - This event occurs when an SMS message link is clicked.
  • SMS Subscribed (Instant) - This event occurs when a user opts in to an SMS subscription.

Searches
  • Get Subscription Eligibility for a User - Make a call to this endpoint to list all subscription types and channels a user is subscribed to. You can query for a subscriber using either their phone number or email. One of the query parameters is required in order to look up a subscriber. As an example, you can use this endpoint to check if a subscriber is eligible to receive SMS or email campaigns, and then send them a message based on that eligibility.

  • Unsubscribe Subscriptions for a User - Make a call to this endpoint to unsubscribe a user from a subscription type or channel. If no subscriptions are present in the request, the user is unsubscribed from all subscriptions. If subscriptions are present in the request, the user is unsubscribed from the requested type or channel combination. By default, if a subscription exists, but the user is already unsubscribed, it records the attempt to unsubscribe the subscription again. For TEXT subscriptions, a message is sent to the person indicating that they are unsubscribed.
  • Purchase - Make a call to this endpoint when a user generates an order or purchase.
  • Custom Attributes - Make a call to this endpoint for any attribute-based data.

Limitations

  • API rate limits apply with 150 requests per second for most endpoints, but some endpoints have lower limits: Identity (10 requests/second), Subscribe (10 requests/second), Unsubscribe (5 requests/second), and Product Catalog Uploads (1 request/second).
  • There is a limit of 100 custom attributes that can be created per account.
  • Phone numbers must be submitted in E.164 format (e.g., +19148440001) for proper processing.
  • Sensitive or special categories of personal information cannot be shared with Attentive as defined by applicable data protection laws (CCPA, CPRA).
