Use dropdown fields in Zapier Tables

Dropdown fields are a specific field type in Zapier Tables. They display a set list of values that users can select to avoid data entry errors and inconsistencies.

Dropdown source types

You can add options for your dropdown field from different sources:

  • Static list: Enter the available options directly in the field setup.
  • Another table or field: Select another table or another field from the same table to be the source of the dropdown.

Set up a static list dropdown

You can create a list of options directly within your dropdown field.

  • Click Add field on the right side of a table.
  • Select the Dropdown field type. A sidebar will open.
  • In the Name field, enter a name for the field. Other required fields will be automatically filled in for you.
  • The Selection source dropdown menu will have Provide static list pre-selected.
  • In the Selectable Item List fields, enter the options you'd like to display.
    • Use the + Selectable item button to add more options.
  • (Optional) Check the Allow multiple selection checkbox to let users select more than one option.
  • Click Save.
Tip

You can reorder the options using the drag icon beside each one.

Set up a dropdown using another table or field

You can select another table, or another field from the same table, to be the source of options for your dropdown.

  • Click Add field on the right side of a table.
  • Select the Dropdown field type. A sidebar will open.
  • In the Name field, enter a name for the field. Other required fields will be automatically filled in for you.
  • In the Selection Source dropdown menu, select Use another table or field. New fields will appear in the sidebar.
  • In the Source Table field, select a table.
  • In the Field to Display field, select a field.
  • (Optional) Check the Allow multiple selection checkbox to let users select more than one option.
  • Click Save.

Limitations

Dropdown fields can display up to 100 options.
