Big news for OpenAI users. Our ChatGPT (OpenAI) app has been updated to integrate with the new OpenAI Responses API. You’ll find four new actions ready to use in your Zaps.
This change prepares for OpenAI’s deprecation of the Assistant API in the first half of 2026, as Response API will take its place.
What does this mean for you?
- You can start using Response API in our 4 new actions today.
- Your existing actions using Assistant API will continue to work as normal until the deprecation date. Zapier will notify you closer to the time when a deprecation date is finalized.
- The new Conversation (Responses API) action allows you to use built-in tools to power your workflows. It allows you to:
- Search the web to generate content.
- Search and analyze files.
- Analyze and run code.
- Interact with your remote Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers to perform tasks.
Which actions use Response API?
- Analyze Text: Summarize, classify, and analyze text.
- Analyze Images: Upload images and send or question about it.
- Conversation (Responses API): Send a chat to OpenAI and generate a completion, optionally storing messages for continuous conversation and ulitize built-in tools.
- Extract Structured Data: Send unstructured text and return structured data.

Do I need to update my Zaps?
You aren’t required to update your Zaps immediately to use the new OpenAI Response API.
If you want to start using the new actions, go to your App Connection page to view all of your Zaps that use the ChatGPT (OpenAI) app.
However, OpenAI plans to deprecate the Assistant API in the first half of 2026. Zapier recommends updating your Zaps to use the new action before this date to ensure your workflows continue to run smoothly without interruption.
