What is changing?

From May 22, 2025, agents will move to focus on automation instead of chat. You can still chat with your agents, but the focus will be on providing them with automation tasks. As part of that move, behaviors will no longer exist. Each behavior will become an individual agent, and multiple agents can be grouped within a pod.

New features

As part of these changes, there are new features that will help you keep on top of your automations.

Pods

You can group your agents with similar workflows or tasks in the same pod to make it easier to review their activity separately from that of other agents.

Activity and agents overview

You will now be able to see all of your agents' activity in one place, the All activity screen. This screen lets you see if an agent has completed a task or if it requires your input.

What happens with my current agents?

If you have agents on Zapier Agents, they will be migrated to the new system, with the following structure:

Agents

  • If an agent has multiple behaviours, it will be split into separate agents–one for each behavior. These new agents will be part of a pod named after the original agent. Pods are groups of agents that perform similar tasks or workflows.
  • If an agent has only one behavior or none, it will still be a standalone agent and not placed in a pod.
  • When an agent includes both behaviors and chat tools (like web search or app actions), the system will create two agents:
    • One agent will keep the original agent's name, chat history, and tools.
    • The other agent will take the behavior’s name and keep any tools used in that behavior.

Behaviors

The system will create a separate agent for each behavior and name it after it. If the behavior comes from an agent with multiple behaviors, it will be placed in a pod named after that original agent.

Chats

You’ll find your previous chats with any agent in All Activity

Planned maintenance

Scheduled maintenance will occur overnight between May 21 and May 22 (Eastern US Time to Pacific US Time) and is expected to last a few hours. Zapier will notify you via email once the system is live and ready to use. On May 22, the Zapier Agents documentation will also be updated to reflect these changes.

Will my existing automations keep working?

Yes. Your existing behaviours will automatically become agents. No action is required from you.

Although agents will not run during the brief maintenance, any triggers occurring then will be queued and processed once Zapier is online again.
