How to find Slack member, channel, and user group IDs

When creating workflows with Slack, you might need to complete a field as a custom value with the ID of a member, channel, or user group. This article will explain how to find these Slack IDs.

Member ID

To find a member ID:

  • Open Slack in your web browser.
  • Select the member's Slack profile.
  • Click More.
  • Copy the member ID by clicking Copy member ID.

Channel ID

To find a channel ID:

  • Open Slack in your web browser.
  • Select the channel name from the left-hand menu.
  • Click View channel details.
  • The channel details window will open. The channel ID is at the bottom.
  • Copy the channel ID by clicking Copy channel ID.

User group ID

To find a user group ID:

  • Open Slack in your web browser.
  • Select People & user groups from the left-hand menu.
  • In the People window, select the User groups tab.
  • Select the user group you want to mention.
  • In the browser's address bar, copy the alphanumeric ID that follows /user_groups/. This is the user group ID.
