Zapier has an important update regarding Zapier’s OpenAI and ChatGPT integrations. To simplify and improve the user experience, we will be combining both apps into one called ChatGPT (OpenAI).
Why is this change happening?
As part of Zapier’s commitment to continuously improving powerful AI automation tools, our customers have highlighted that the distinction between both apps has been confusing. By combining the two, we can add new features and enhance stability to help you get even more done!
Key changes
- App renaming: The ChatGPT app will be renamed ChatGPT (OpenAI) on February 20, 2025.
- App migration: We will migrate the OpenAI app to ChatGPT (OpenAI) app in Zapier. This migration will occur between February 20-28, 2025.

Actions updates:
- Most actions will be automatically updated to the latest ChatGPT (OpenAI) version.
- Some actions will be migrated as “legacy.”
- Legacy actions will continue to work, but support for them will be phased out over time.
Action updates
We’re updating some actions between February 20-28, 2025. Zaps using these actions will automatically switch to the latest ChatGPT (OpenAI) actions:
- Send Prompt
- Create Transcription
- Generate Image with DALL·E 2
- Generate Image with DALL·E 3
- Search Embeddings
- API Request
- Custom Actions
No action is required from you if your Zaps contain any of these actions.
Legacy actions
This is the full list of legacy actions along with the latest and equivalent actions you can use with ChatGPT (OpenAI).

You can continue to use these legacy actions within your Zaps, however support for them will gradually phased out over time. It’s important to note there is no specific end-of-life date.
If you have any issues while using a legacy action, you will need to update your Zap to use the latest actions is the best way to resolve them.
Zapier strongly recommends updating your Zaps to use the latest actions ChatGPT (OpenAI). This ensures you benefit from the latest features, bug fixes, and overall performance.
