Google Sheets: fields have gone missing in the Zap editor

Symptoms

You've noticed that some of the fields in your Zap editor have gone missing. Missing fields will be highlighted in yellow with an exclamation icon. This means that the Zap is no longer able to find the data that it needs to process.

Causes

This problem can happen if you rename columns in your spreadsheet after you set it up to work with Zapier. When you rename a column, Zapier loses track of where the data for that column is located. As a result, the field for that column disappears from the Zap editor.

How to fix it

To fix this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Turn off your Zap: This will prevent the Zap from trying to process data while you're working on it.
  2. Re-test your trigger or action: This will ensure Zapier is looking at the most recent data in your spreadsheet.
  3. Remap the field: In your affected action steps where the data hasn’t been added, re-select the field.
  4. Save your changes: Once you have remapped the field, click the Save button.
  5. Turn your Zap back on: Your Zap should now be able to find the data that it needs and process it correctly.
