Change a field's data type on Zapier Tables
In Zapier Tables, the field type defines the data format that can be used in a specific field, such as email or number formats. Not all field types can be converted to another field type.
Change the field type
- From your Tables dashboard, click the name of your table.
- On the header of the field you want to change, click the three dot icon.
- Click Edit field. A sidebar will open.
- Click the Field Type field to open the dropdown menu.
- Select a new field type.
Possible field type conversions
If the field you want to change uses one of the field types in the list below, it can be changed into any of the other types on this list:
- Long Text
- Phone Number
- Date & Time
Some conversions may warn you that changing the field type may make some of the values invalid. If you change the field type, review your table’s records afterward.
Field types that cannot be changed
You cannot convert these field types to any other field type:
- AI Field
You can set dropdown fields to allow a single or multiple selections. If you mark the Allow multiple selections checkbox, you cannot change it back to a single selection afterward.
