When creating an App Extension, you may want to create a predefined list when you add input fields for your custom action.
There are two ways to create predefined lists:
- Dynamic dropdown
- List options
Dynamic dropdown
The Dynamic dropdown field can be created using an existing trigger available on Zapier. You can do this by adding an app’s dynamic dropdown ID.
You'll need to contact the Support team to find an app’s dynamic dropdown ID. Once you have this, you can proceed to set up your dynamic dropdown list.
To create a dynamic dropdown list:
- Go to the App Extension builder.
- Find the app extension and click the three dot icon
. - Click Edit.
- In the Input Fields section, click Edit on the input field to which you want to add a dynamic dropdown list.
- A dialog box will appear. Scroll to the List Option section.
- Select the Dynamic Dropdown field.
- Enter the dynamic dropdown ID.
- Click Done.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save.
Static dropdown
The Static dropdown field allows you to create a predefined list by text.
To create a static dropdown list:
- Go to the App Extension builder.
- Find the App Extension and click the three dot icon .
- Click Edit.
- In the Input Fields section, click Edit on the input field to which you want to add a dynamic dropdown list.
- A dialog box will appear. Scroll to the List Option section. By default, Static Dropdown will be selected.
- Enter your text for your list, separating each option by a comma.
- Click Done.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save.
